About True Tenacity Therapy
I’m passionate about helping neurodivergent individuals and couples communicate their needs, resolve conflicts, and inspire growth.
Many of today’s therapy methods are based on outdated stereotypes that pathologizes neurodivergent individuals as a problem to be fixed, leading so many to feel confused and helpless. You are not broken and your struggles are valid. The good news is, you do not need to change or hide your true self to have more joy and peace in your life. I will support your goals by providing empathic and affirming support aimed at highlighting strengths and accommodating (not punishing) deficits.
Tenacity as defined by the Cambridge Dictionary- The determination to continue doing what you are doing/ the ability to keep doing something difficult/perseverance/persistence.
Neurodivergents are some of the most creative and persistent people out there. It lies within all of us the ability to harness grit and determination to find our place in the world and realize our full potential. The well supported neurodivergent adult or couple has true tenacity to take on life’s challenges and enjoy the journey along the way!
Areas of Focus Christa Helps With:

Highly Sensitive Persons
Perceiving the world in a different way can create challenges and stress that can be addressed in therapy. There is also an opportunity to embrace your highly sensitive nature as a strength that offers special insight and wisdom. Christa can provide a safe place to explore your needs and address challenges from a strengths based perspective.

Autism
Whether is is learning to radically accept the diagnosis for yourself or your child, there is an opportunity to unpack fear and frustration in therapy. Being neuro-diversity affirming means Christa supports and accommodates the disabling parts of Autism without trying to change people to fit into the neuro-typical or ableist norms of society. There is something unique to be celebrated in every Autistic person and if you need help uncovering that, I can help with that too!

Pathological Demand Avoidance
Acknowledging that there is a very real but not well understood, researched or supported part of the neurodiverse universe for PDAers, we can address the complex support needs and dynamics that impact individuals or families impacted by PDA in the home. Christa believes every PDAer or PDA parent is the expert in their life and therapy can be a beneficial sounding board to uncover solutions or voice frustrations about the invalidation PDAers face in daily life.

ADHD
Maybe your mind is buzzing with thoughts and you’re baffled by your untapped potential or feeling trapped in life. Maybe your body is in motion and you find yourself acting without thinking first. Common themes we see in therapy are: low self esteem, impulsiveness, treatment resistant anxiety or depression, relationship, parenting or career struggles. It’s also common for ADHD to coincide with other issues such as addictions or problematic behaviors which can be supported with therapy.

Relationship Conflict
Relationships are impacted when there is a culture clash in the home. Culture could mean racial/ethnic differences, country of origin/immigration, or religion. In some cases the relationship might not appear to the outside world as one that would experience a “culture clash” but through therapy differences in how each person perceives the world on account of each person’s unique mind or neurodivergence can uncover the root cause of conflict. Two people could be viewing the same situation in extremely different lights, it’s not a bad thing, but it is a common reason couples seek therapy.
